Workshop: Oral History – Capturing Memories, Creating History
Tuesday, 4 October, 2016, 7:00 pm–9:00 pm
This workshop is a taster session to learn the basics about oral history and how to do it.
As part of the Mill Road History Project, volunteers collected many hours of interviews with residents of Cambridge to capture and preserve their memories of times gone by.
The workshop will be run by Shelley Lockwood of the Museum of Cambridge and will introduce you to the basics of creating oral histories including:
- interviewing people
- using professional recording equipment
- editing recordings
- turning your interview into a story
You’ll also get a chance to listen to some of the interviews made during the project.
This workshop will be held in the Community room at Ross Street Community Centre on Ross Street in Romsey between 7pm and 9pm. As this is smaller than our usual venues then please email admin@millroadhistory.org.uk to reserve a place if you would like to attend so we have an idea of numbers.
