The Story of Cambridge in One Hole

Excavation in a sewer shaft in central Cambridge revealed evidence from almost the entirety of Cambridge history – and not a few surprises along the way!

Alison Dickens BA MCIfA is the Director of Granta Heritage Ltd. and has been a professional archaeologist in the region for over 30 years. A Project Manager for the University Archaeological Unit for many years (during which the work at the centre of this talk was carried out), she started her own company in 2019 specialising in historic buildings and church archaeology. She became Cathedral Archaeologist at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral in 2020.
